Issues
While out meeting the constituents of the 13th District, there were 2 issues that people were focused on. One was taxes and the other was jobs. I couldn’t agree more.
Taxes must be reduced. In this current economy people simply can’t afford to give so much of their income to the government.
— A few areas where we can begin to reduce taxes are:
- Eliminate some of the state bureaucracy.
- Elected officials should not receive pensions, as they were never meant to sit in office for more than a few terms.
- No grant money should be extended to political candidates. If they want to run for office they should pay for it, with a ceiling on how much they are allowed to spend.
- Non-violent offenders do not need to be incarcerated at taxpayer expense.
Creating jobs is a little more difficult. When the government creates jobs it is just more burden on the tax payers. When the private sector creates jobs, it builds our economy.
— A few ideas to help build private sector jobs are:
- Encourage and promote the renewable energy industry.
- Foster and encourage small business development for both non-profit and profit driven business, through mentoring the unemployed.
- Tax breaks for sole proprietorships and other start-up businesses.
- Begin the process of gradually converting from public education to private and non-profit education. With teacher as entrepreneur.
— Other issues include:
- Respect for Life — no eugenics, whether it’s Abortion, Euthanasia, or Non-consensual experimentation.
- Freedom of Speech — no banning of books or censoring talk radio.
- Right to bear arms — no restrictions on gun ownership, except for some felons.
- Right to privacy — no naked body scanners, electronic surveillance or chipping humans.
- Due process — one is innocent until proven guilty by a public trial, no secret lists.
- Term limits — no one should stay in office for more than two terms.
